Spike Likes Fridays, Vol. 16

March 11th, 2011

Another week, another round of Spike likes Fridays! Take a look and see what the Spikesters are liking this week!

Spike: Check out the latest video from Spike and the Noisemakers and order some band tattoos!

Chris:  While I don’t like natural disasters, I do like the fact that today’s technology can actually help those in need instead of just spewing out the same news coverage over and over again. For example, check out Google’s Crisis Response page complete with real time updates and a “Person Finder” to help locate those who were affected by the massive quake.

Charlie: Surrealist images created by Google Earth’s 3-D mapping technology.

Erin: This song & performance cheers up any Seattle grey day for me!

Rachel: Microsoft Outlook plug in helps edit passive aggressive emails- before you send them.

John: Looking forward to the NCAA Tournament starting up next week and Spike’s Bracket Challenge.  Tim “AutoPick” Hodgson is the defending champion and will be out to prove that last year just wasn’t a fluke.

Willem: The Noun Project: A bold idea with a simple mission statement: “Sharing, celebrating and enhancing the world’s visual language.”  Essentially, the Project aims to collect, organize and add to the universal library of symbols and images that make up our visual language.

Andrew: The Husky’s pulling away with a win against the Cougs in the PAC10 Tourney. Gotta give my hometown pride to UW.

Spike Likes Fridays

February 4th, 2011

It’s that time again- time for the Spikesters to share with you what they like this week.

Charlie: The new Volkswagen commercial.

Sharan: After a stressful week of study abroad chaos in Cairo, my daughter is now safe in London.

Willem & Robert: Using Google’s Street View technology, Google provides art lovers with a 360-degree virtual tour of 17 museums around the world and makes 1,000 works of art by more than 400 artists available online. These masterpieces are presented in such amazing high definition that you can zoom in to see the brush strokes and the grains of the canvas. And it is within those brush strokes that the raging tranquility of Vincent van Gogh’s ‘The Starry Night’ truly speaks to ones soul.  Go ahead- check it out for yourself!

Gary G.: Spike likes margaritas and guacamole. In the sun. On the beach. In Mexico. In January.

Rachel: Waiting in anticipation for super bowl cooking! Hot wings, sweet wings, red pepper hummus and more are on the menu for Sunday!

Tim: A little tech humor from the Brits.

John: Looking forward to the spring dart season starting up next week.  My new team, Innovative Outs, might be the best one I’ve ever been on.  You can follow the team and all the stats at www.seattledarts.com.

Andrew: Looking forward to helping John practice for dart season- Tim and I are currently 2-0 against our dart throwing colleague.
